BHS Access Award for Lesley Gillman

We are so delighted that our former Committee Member, Lesley Gillman has been given a BHS Access Award in recognition of all she has achieved over the past 20 years of her involvement with EBA and other organisations promoting equestrian access in Essex.

Lesley is so deserving of this Award and we are so pleased that the BHS has formally recognised her exceptional work and dedication.  Those of you familiar with our Rides and the work of EBA will know the immense contribution which Lesley has made.  However, this is a flavour of the things which made her so deserving of the Award:

  • 20 years dedicated service to Essex Bridleways Association (BHS Equestrian Access Group) and to the enhancement and maintenance of the equestrian access network in Essex
  • Roles held during that time (all Voluntary): Trustee, Rides Programme Organiser, Holidays Organiser, Secretary
  • Someone who has worked selflessly over two decades to promote safe off road riding in Essex through her involvement not only with EBA but also with The Flitch Way Action Group and Hatfield Forest Riders Association
  • In depth detailed knowledge of PROWs in Essex which she will happily share with anyone
  • Someone who never rests on her laurels and is always looking for new ideas and initiatives to progress.
  • Always puts her head above the parapet and makes things happen! Indefatigable, enthusiastic and unstinting in her dedication to improving access for equestrians.
